I use VS2008 and resharper in the bulk of my work and coding with these is frictionless. I'm looking to change, so I'll give Eclipse a spin. I use the PyDev extensions for Eclipse which have recently been fully opensourced - they are simply the best Python IDE solution out there, IMHO. That's a lot easier than using a word processor! Only issue I had is your step 8 is out of date now. That has changed to adding true to your descriptor.xml file and boxee will automatically add it.
